| Goku is the only character I've come across that just doesn't sound right. You get used to it, but still, it just doesn't fit him. Although, I think the fact that I'm used to the dub may be why I consider it so weird. It's quite he transition. I've never had a problem with any other character tbh. |

| Adult Naruto should have a male voice actor, having the same childish voice in Boruto doesn't suit him no matter how the voice actress tries to lower her voice. Goku's voice is the same, I feel like they're keeping the original one because she's old as fuck and could die any minute. Also one thing I hate is how you can sometimes hear the echo from the room the voice actor is working in. Like if a character is clearly outside but their voice sounds like they're inside a cellar bothers me. Can't they soundproof the walls to prevent echoing over there in Japan? |

| 100% the Japanese voice of Femio from Princess Tutu. I can think of various English dubs with voices that do not really match the characters. Femio's Japanese voice is probably the first I've ever came across in Japanese dubs that I do not think matches that character at all, it's way too deep. His voice really bothered me anytime he had screen time. Thankfully he's a side character so he doesn't show up too much. |

| Many. Almost every Japanese voice actress that attempts to sound like a weird goofy child (so most all of them) bother me. The battle shounen MC being voiced by an older lady thing also is just offputting. It's very rare for me to be happy with every voice in a cast. |

| Don't know who thought it was a good idea to have Kenshin sound like an 8 year old girl but it made the anime unwatchable for me even though the manga was one of my favorites. Like, I'm used to guys being voiced by girls and having super soft voices and everything, but with Kenshin it felt like they didn't even try and told her 'just act like you would act voicing an 8 year old elementary schooler'. I also found Hermes' voice in Kino's Journey so annoiying and unfitting (always with those high pitches in literally every kind of scenario or character, classic anime) that I had to watch it in dub for full enjoyment. There's also the legendary Tsui no Sora. On a sidenote everyone who says Goku is just used to the english version. Just like I used to think the only good german dubs are for TV series I watched 10+ years ago because after that I started watching the original version first. Personally I never watched the english version of DB (only the german one) so I can unbiasedly say it sounds weird to me and the japanese version is much preferable and the german version is also okay but I'm not attached enough to really go for it over the original. I can't even remember when I watched a german dub the last time. |

| Apparently some people think the guy who did Penguindrum's Kanba in English did a good job, while I personally think his voice coming out of Kanba makes the show unwatchable in dub. I also think Okabe in Steins;Gate dubbed isn't bad, but super underwhelming after how amazing Miyano was in the role. |

| Apart of Goku's Japanese voice (because no matter how much you like the Japanese version, Goku's grandma voice is awkward, more so when Masako Nozawa also voices Goten, Gohan, Turles and Bardock in the same series), I haven't found that much cases of unfitting Japaneses voice in characters (English dubs doesn't counts, since I don't watch them, though I heard some dub voices who were horrible), since Japaneses tend to do right choices respecting characters voices. Despite that, there are still some cases who have bothered me. -The voice of Silver Mask in Arslan Senki, because Yuuki Kaji tries too hard to sound deep and serious that he ends forcing his voice too much, to the point the characters sounds like an angsty teen trying to sound menacing. They should have casted someone with an actual deep voice of the like of Daisuke Ono for him, really. -Maltran in Tales of Zestiria the X. While the rest of the cast is good, the voice actress, apart of sound like an old lady (when the character looks 30 at best), doesn't seems to put much emotion to the character. I don't know how she was in the videogame, but in the anime, her performance is very lacking. -The voices of Vanilla Ice and Dio in the OVAs of JoJo's Bizarre Adventures: Stardust Crusaders. They sound like old men when their characters doesn't even look like that. I mean, everyone in the OVA (except maybe Polnareff) sounds old, but at least they sound more or less alright, but these two sounds atrocious, especially Vanilla Ice (though his character was already fucked over in the OVA anyway). Show Hayami and Takehito Koyasu did their work much, much, much better. |

As much as I love Mamoru Miyano in other roles, I actually prefer J. Micheal Tatum as Okabe. Could be because I watched the dub first, and because of how well written it is, instantly fell in love with it. Clearly I'm biased. In a way I just feel like Tatum suits him better. But that's my personal opinion. o-o About Kanba I will have to agree, though. The majority of the voices in Penguindrum are fine -- I even kind of prefer Souma and Himari's voices in the dub, but Kanba's voice is horrendus. The only reason I watched it dubbed was because I wanted to pay attention to what was happening on-screen, rather than paying attention to the text. As for personal experiences, almost the entire cast for Akatsuki no Yona sounded a bit off to me. Then again, the dub just made it 50 times worse so I'm fine with the japanese version. >.>' Watching the OVA's for tsubasa (CLAMP) felt odd because I'd only read the manga beforehand, and their voices had sounded entierly different in my head. XD This is generally an issue for when I read books/manga before watching the adaptations, though. The acting wasn't bad at all, and once I got used to it it was fine, but it still felt odd to begin with. I'm currently watching Evangelion and... Shinji's voice in the japanese version. It suits him in a way, but it's still feels odd to me. Mamoru Miyano as Masashima Taichi in Chihayafuru. It weird for me to hear him play a completely normal, non-weird character for once. XD Also, Ohara Sayaka as Yuuko in Holic. I absolutely love the dub of holic, and especially Coleen Clinkenbeard as Yuuko. So when I then had to switch over to the sub for season 2, Yuuko's voice was the one that stood out most to me. Don't get me wrong, Ohara does an absolutely amazing job as Yuuko, but I just feel like Coleen's voice suits her better. Plus, I was used to hearing Ohara's voice as Beatrice from the Umineko VN so... yeah. XD |

I can't fathom why they would go for it with Goku and Naruto for example, they are just sooo not cool because of it. Hard to take it seriously (I mean as serious as you can take anime like this, but you know what I mean). I get it if the character is a young boy or something, but not like this... :/ |
